Bay View
Located in Northumberland County, Bay View is a 220-acre landscape with extensive frontage on Ball Creek extending into the Chesapeake Bay. Many places on the property look just as they did when Indigenous people lived here.
Northern Neck Land Conservancy serves as the property's steward while the Nature Conservancy - Virginia completes a multi-year freshwater wetland restoration project.
The Land Conservancy makes the property available to the public on the fourth Friday of each month and by special arrangement with the Northern Neck Master Naturalists.
A dock and floating kayak launch were completed in 2025. Guests may bring a kayak when the property is open to visitors.
Visitors may also walk gravel lanes (.5 mile) and a woodland path (.3 mile). Adventurers can go off path through wetlands to view the Bay.
Fourth Fridays at Bay View is a free monthly opportunity to explore this beautiful location and learn about the importance of community conservation.
Bay View is open from 12 - 3 on Fouth Fridays.

Visiting Bay View
Bay View is in rustic condition. You will want to plan accordingly. Please review the following to plan your trip.
Waiver: Visitors are asked to sign a liability waiver. Waiver forms will be available when you arrive at Bay View.
Weather: We love to be out of doors in all kinds of weather. This event is usually rain or shine. In extreme circumstances, check the Land Conservancy’s social media or call the office at 804-250-2334.
Water Access: You are welcome to bring your own canoe or kayak and paddle at your own risk. You must bring a personal flotation device.
Facilities: We have a portable toilet on site for this gathering. Bayview does not have running water or electricity. The terrain is uneven.
Things to bring: Boots or shoes that are okay to get muddy, your ideas about conservation in our community and questions for the Land Conservancy to answer! We will provide water and light snacks.
