Anne Brumley has joined the Northern Neck Land Conservancy Board of Directors as a representative from Westmoreland County. Born and raised in the Northern Neck, Anne spent many years on the water, enjoying all that our region’s rural culture can provide, and learning firsthand what it takes to make it last for future generations. As the daughter of W. Tayloe Murphy Jr., a long-standing conservationist who spent four years as the Secretary of Natural Resources under Governor Mark Warner and championed the Chesapeake Bay Act, she continues a family legacy of caring deeply for the natural resources that make our region special.
Brumley spent her career in New York and Virginia working in retail management and high-level banking where she worked directly with employers and clients from Macy’s and Tiffany’s to Bank of America and Atlantic Union Bank. She brought her expertise to St. Catherine’s School, an all-girls private school in Richmond, for the last 13 years before retiring in 2026. She now joins the Northern Neck Land Conservancy Board of Directors, focusing to conserve and protect more of the lands that make up her childhood stomping grounds.
“It is a great honor and privilege for me to join the Board of Directors of the Northern Neck Land Conservancy,” said Brumley. “I have long admired this organization and its leadership for their extraordinary efforts to protect the land and waterways in this special region of Virginia. It is because of organizations like this that the Northern Neck will continue to be one of the Commonwealth’s great treasures for generations to come.”
